Data Techniques, one of the UK’s most successful IT and services infrastructure businesses, has split off its carrier and rail network division into a separate company as part of a de-merger.
The company, which has more than 500 employees and a combined turnover of £44m in 2019, has divided to enable each side of the business to focus on its specialist services and continued growth.
Data Installation and Network Services Ltd – which trades as Data Techniques – remains and continues to focus on providing high-quality network cabling, electrical services and mobility solutions across a range of markets including, telco, data centre, defence, finance, technology and central government sectors from its offices in Farnborough and Southampton.
The new business – called Data Tech Holdings Ltd – will continue to develop its proven track record in delivering fixed price rail and carrier infrastructure projects for the likes of London Underground, COLT, Docklands Light Railway and Network Rail from its base at Woolwich in London.
The demerger of the businesses took effect from November 30 2019. Data Techniques is led by Nick Crosby as Managing Director while Bob Jacobs is the Managing Director of Data Tech.
The original business was created in 1988 by current CEO Ian Crockford and he will be continuing in that role with Data Techniques.
He said: “Both divisions of the company have always operated autonomously with dedicated management and commercial teams to ensure that contracts and services are delivered to the highest standards to time and to budget.
“The board of Data Techniques has worked together for many years, creating two significant businesses of which we are all extremely proud.
“Both businesses are at their strongest point financially and are underpinned by a number of framework contracts. In order to maximise the potential of both businesses and to allow for continued growth in both, the board of directors of Data Techniques has taken the decision to de-merge both business divisions.
“For our large and varied customer base this will mean business as usual, delivered and managed by the same people. Contracts will continue to be delivered with the same dedication, attention to detail & innovation that is part of our DNA.
“These are exciting times and we would like to take the opportunity to thank our clients for their continued business, and our staff for their never ending diligence in ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction are achieved.”
